About Shizen Energy Inc.

about Shizen Energy Inc.

Developing regionally-oriented power plants

  • Select proper land using the zoning (*1) method
  • Promote business in accordance with landscapetreaties and various other guidelines
  • Conduct a briefing session for local residents
  • Set up, hold and participate in a council

Creating business

  •  Over a long period of time from construction to operation, we cooperate with local enterprises to implement constructions and maintenance services such as civil engineering work, electrical work, security service, weeding, and cleaning.
  • We create and promote regional industries and support new ventures through projects that feed profit back to the surrounding region, such as “1% for Community®” (*2)

Koshi Agriculture Energy Project

Koshi Agriculture Energy Project is an activity that returns part of the earnings from revenue from sales of electricity generated as well as dividends from Koshi Farm Project Photovoltaic Power Plant (completed in March 2014 by a limited liability company that was established by Shizen Energy Farm Inc. - a Shizen Energy Inc. group company, Kumamoto Flour Milling Co., Ltd. in Koshi City, and Koshi city with project development by Shizen Energy Inc.) for use in local agriculture promotion in Koshi City, Kumamoto prefecture where a power plant is located.
This project has two main pillars: “Maintaining Existing Agriculture” and “Promoting New Agriculture” for local agriculture promotion and cooperation. With Maintaining Existing Agriculture, 5% of revenue from sales of electricity generated from the limited liability company is utilized for maintenance and improvement of agricultural infrastructure such as irrigation canals in land improvement districts in Koshi and Nishi Koshi. In Promoting New Agriculture, we integrate part of the dividends from three parties (Shizen Energy Farm Inc., Kumamoto Flour Milling Co., Ltd and Koshi City) into the General Incorporated Association Koshi City Agriculture Energy Fund to support various challenges in new agricultural fields. These cooperative activities will be implemented for over the more than 20 years that the electricity sales business will continue and aim to multilaterally promote agriculture in the long term in Koshi City, where the power plant is located.

Karatsu Minato Wind Power Plant Project

This business was started in January 2016 as the “Karatsu City Council for Rural Village Revitalization by Promoting Renewable Energy” (Chairman: Professor Masaharu Kitano, Kyushu University), and we built a one unit wind power plant with a capacity of approximately 2MW in farmland in Karatsu City, Saga prefecture based on the “Basic Plan regarding Revitalization of Rural Villages by Promoting Power Generation through Renewable Energy Harmonized with Sound Development of Agricultural Forestry Industries and Fisheries” that was submitted to Karatsu City. We started its commercial operation in February 2018 and plan to return 1% of revenue from sales of electricity generated for the maintenance of local agriculture and support of agricultural activities with a view towards the future in the region.

Shizen Foundation

This is a plan to revitalize local community by managing part of the earnings from sales of electric power generated in power plants owned by Shizen Energy Group (*3) under “Shizen Foundation”, which was established by Shizen Energy Inc.

*1 Zoning is a way of thinking that has been actively promoted in Europe, and it determines the best location to build a power plant in an administrative district at the government level beforehand based on the presupposition of promoting the introduction of renewable energy power plants such as photovoltaic power and wind power. It has been developed as a solution to regional environmental issues, such as landscape problems.

*2 “1% for Community®” is a general term for the business implemented by Shizen Energy Group that feeds back profit to the surrounding region, and the content of each project is unique.

*3 “Owned by Shizen Energy Group” indicates a project that is owned by Shizen Energy Inc. , its affiliated companies, or is invested in by them through a special purpose company.
