Shizen Energy Participates in the 2nd Demonstration Experiment of Non-Fossil Fuel Energy Certificates with Tracking Information and Obtains Certificates from Power Plants in Shizen Energy Group -Proposal of power more closely adapted to customer needs in

2019.06.14[Press Release]

Shizen Energy Inc. (headquarter: Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture; Representative Directors: Ken Isono, Kenji Kawado, and Masaya Hasegawa; hereinafter “Shizen Energy”) participated in the demonstration experiment to add tracking information to non-fossil fuel energy certificates* implemented by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry beginning on April 8, 2019 (hereinafter “demonstration experiment”), and obtained non-fossil fuel energy certificates with tracking information from photovoltaic power plants in Shizen Energy Group.

In the demonstration experiment, participants obtain non-fossil fuel energy certificates with information on attributes such as type of power source and power plant location (hereinafter “non-fossil fuel energy certificates with tracking information”). Shizen Energy is working for the diffusion of electricity in Japan that in effect derives from renewable energy and is “CO2-neutral” (i.e., generated without any CO2 emissions). To this end, it has focused on non-fossil energy certificates (renewable energy designations) for supply from large-capacity sources beginning with the start of its Shizen Denryoku no Denki (Shizen Energy’s Power) service in 2017, and provided such electricity.
These days, there are rising needs for electricity from low-carbon sources with little environmental burden, as exemplified by the approaches under RE100 (Renewable Energy 100%), an international initiative. When power retailers sell, and customers purchase, electricity carrying the non-fossil fuel energy certificate from the demonstration experiment, that electricity is recognized as deriving from renewable energy and can be used by the customer in efforts to receive RE100 certification and measures to combat global warming.
Shizen Energy participated in the second demonstration experiment on the heels of the first, and took aim at sure acquisition of non-fossil fuel energy certificates with tracking information. It has consistently promoted power generation projects involving renewable energy power plants in its Group and sales of electricity deriving from renewable energy. It is able to propose power sources adapted to the needs of the individual customer with a higher level of flexibility.
Shizen Energy is going to continue aiming for the diffusion of renewable energy and construction of a sustainable society inside and outside Japan, by presenting various options for procurement of electricity that derives from renewable energy sources and is CO2-neutral.
