Shizen Energy launches Renewable Energy Certificate service
Company-owned/funded solar and wind power plants in Vietnam registered for I-REC
Shizen Energy Inc. (Shizen Energy) has launched a new service to provide renewable energy certificates, including non-fossil energy certificates with tracking, that are in adherence with major international sustainability standards such as RE100 (*1) and CDP (*2). Specifically, in Japan, the company will procure and provide non-fossil energy certificates with tracking and J-Credits, while internationally it will procure and provide I-RECs (*3), which more than 50 countries comply with, as well as GOs and TIGRs.
Regarding I-RECs, Shizen Energy has registered Phuong Mai 3 Wind Farm and Hau Giang Solar Power Plant in Vietnam, as I-REC accredited facilities. Shizen Energy is the investor and asset manager of both facilities. In addition to procuring from the market, by registering its own power plants as I-REC accredited facilities, the company will be able to provide a long-term, stable supply of renewable energy certificates that are not greatly affected by market prices.
Renewable Energy Certificates are an effective and affordable way for companies wishing to start decarbonization efforts. In the future, Shizen Energy plans to add the types of Renewable Energy Certificates it offers in Japan and internationally, in order to respond flexibly to the various needs of customers. In addition, Shizen Energy is accelerating its business development and construction in Southeast Asia, and plans to supply additional I-RECs derived from its own renewable energy power plants in the future.
In order to “take action for the blue planet,” Shizen Energy will flexibly respond to various needs such as decarbonization and strengthening energy resilience by combining digital technologies such as EMS and storage batteries with the development of renewable energy power sources that exist in harmony with local communities. Together with partners, Shizen Energy aims to realize a 100% renewable energy world as soon as possible.
