Shizen Energy supports Karatsu Seaside Camp 2023 with carbon offsetting
Shizen Energy Inc. (Shizen Energy) will support Karatsu Seaside Camp 2023 (KSC2023) to hold the event with zero carbon dioxide emissions by providing solutions for carbon offsetting. KSC2023 will be held at Cape Hado, Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture, on May 27 and 28, 2023.
Shizen Energy supports KSC2023’s theme of “providing a special time for you, your family, and friends at a venue abundant in nature with the best music,” and will offset approximately 138 tons of CO₂ emitted from the electricity used at the event and transportation of spectators and staff to and from the venue. Shizen Energy will provide the event operator with J-Credits, which are environmental certificates.
Carbon offsetting during KSC2023 (2 days) :
- Transportation of visitors/staff:
transportation by shuttle bus between Karatsu Station and the venue, private cars, airplanes, etc. - Electricity used at the venue: electricity at the venue, portable power source
- Water used at the venue
- Disposal of garbage from the venue
Carbon offset amount: approx. 138 tons (*1)
In addition, as in the previous year, Shizen Energy will support the event by setting up and operating a booth where visitors can charge electronic devices such as smartphones using electricity generated by solar power, as well as providing electricity for each workshop through solar panels. In addition, as part of activities in accordance with Karatsu City’s Zero Carbon City Declaration, solar panels, storage batteries, and compost will be exhibited and Blue Carbon (*2) will be showcased in collaboration with “HanaMarcheConnect”, a Karatsu City organization
In order to “take action for the blue planet,” Shizen Energy will flexibly respond to various needs such as decarbonization and strengthening energy resilience by combining digital technologies such as EMS and storage batteries with the development of renewable energy power sources that exist in harmony with local communities. Together with partners, Shizen Energy aims to realize a 100% renewable energy world as soon as possible.

*2 Blue Carbon is a carbon credit that focuses on removing carbon from the air through carbon absorbing plants in the ocean and coastal ecosystems.
