Shizen Energy signs MOU with Niigata University of International and Information Studies
Shizen Energy Inc. (Shizen Energy) and Niigata University of International and Information Studies (NUIS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on July 21, 2023 for the purpose of educating students, developing human resources, and providing new value by combining their respective knowledge and strengths to solve challenges faced by both parties, while proposing new projects and providing information to the younger generation and local society.
■Background of the MOU
Shizen Energy works together with local communities to develop renewable energy generation projects that are rooted to the local society. Since 2022, Shizen Energy has been exploring a joint development project with Professor Hiroshi Sasaki of NUIS, who is the head of the Orattë Niigata Citizen’s Energy Council, to promote renewable energy generation in Niigata City.
In addition, the existence of local leaders who are knowledgeable of the local community and who can lead the way is indispensable for promoting local businesses that are in line with the local environment and actual conditions. Shizen Energy is fostering glocal leaders who can tackle environmental issues in their local communities through “Green Business Producers, “* a practical business school and audition in which Shizen Energy participates as the originator. Meanwhile, NUIS has long focused on fostering entrepreneurship by implementing community-based projects on a student-led basis.
Shizen Energy and NUIS agreed that collaboration would contribute to the further development of Niigata Prefecture, leading to the signing of the MOU on comprehensive collaboration.
