Shizen Energy and Zeroboard partnership provides comprehensive Scope 2 support from GHG emissions calculation to RE certificate procurement
Shizen Energy Inc. (Shizen Energy) and Zeroboard Inc. (Zeroboard), which supports corporate sustainability management, have entered into a business partnership agreement to provide decarbonization management support services.
With this agreement, Shizen Energy and Zeroboard can now provide a one-stop comprehensive solution for companies seeking to decarbonize, including assistance in understanding greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and procuring non-fossil certificates*1 and various other environmental certificates as options to reduce emissions, as well as corporate PPA services.
Shizen Energy supports corporate decarbonization by providing solutions such as renewable energy power plant development, renewable energy certificate procurement and generation, and long-term renewable energy power supply through corporate PPAs, in response to the growing need for decarbonization around the world.
Utilizing the environmental value of renewable energy certificates is an effective option for Scope 2*2 emission reduction for companies that have difficulty investing in renewable energy facilities or reducing GHG emissions. Shizen Energy not only offers non-fossil certificates and carbon credits in Japan, but also offers a range of renewable energy certificates that allow companies with global operations, including overseas factories and branches, to collectively purchase environmental certificates that can be used in various countries and regions.
Zeroboard provides the “Zeroboard” GHG emissions calculation and visualization solution and, in collaboration with over 180 partner companies, supports the decarbonization of businesses by providing customized emissions reduction solutions. With this business partnership between Shizen Energy and Zeroboard, it has now become possible to provide one-stop comprehensive support, from calculating GHG emissions using “Zeroboard” to providing non-fossil certificates and other renewable energy certificates as a solution for Scope 2 reduction.
Shizen Energy and Zeroboard will combine their respective decarbonization solutions to provide companies with effective GHG emission reduction schemes, and contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society.
*1 non-fossil certificate: a certificate issued for the environmental value of electricity generated using non-fossil power sources. The certificate makes the environmental value of non-fossil electricity visible and allows it to be bought and sold separately from the electricity itself. Purchasing a non-fossil certificate means that clean energy generated from non-fossil fuel sources is being used.
*2 Scope 2: indirect emissions from purchased or acquired energy, such as electricity, steam, heat, or cooling, that is generated off-site and consumed by a company. e.g. Electricity purchased from a utility company is considered an indirect emission.
