Seminar Held on “Renewable Energy and Finance as Part of Decarbonization Efforts in Indonesia”

On April 15, 2025, Shizen Energy Inc. (“Shizen Energy”), Alamport Inc. (Alamport), and NiX JAPAN Co., Ltd. (NiX JAPAN) who provide decarbonization solutions, including rooftop solar operating in Indonesia under PT Alam Energy Renewables (“Alam Energy”), jointly hosted a seminar titled “Renewable Energy and Finance as Part of Decarbonization Efforts in Indonesia”. The event was held at Hibiya Mitsui Conference in Tokyo Midtown Hibiya. The seminar focused on promoting renewable energy adoption in Indonesia and exploring the role of finance in accelerating the country’s energy transition as well as to identify critical challenges and discuss mitigation.

The event commenced with a welcome speech by Mr. Soichiro Nishimori, President Director of Alam Energy addressing the subject of the event. The agenda followed with a keynote address by Ms. Sylvi J. Gani, Director of PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (PT SMI), a state-owned financial institution under the Indonesian Ministry of Finance. In her remarks, Ms. Gani underscored the crucial role that innovative and inclusive financing mechanisms play in driving Indonesia’s energy transition. Drawing from her extensive experience in the banking sector, she provided valuable insights into PT SMI’s renewable energy financing strategy, its diversified investment portfolio collaborating with international investors, and the importance of strong partnerships.

Also presenting to audiences, Mr. Takehiro Nasu, Director of Southeast Asia Division 1 at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), who presented a regional perspective on renewable energy finance, underlining Japan’s commitment to supporting clean energy initiatives in Southeast Asia..

The event continued with presentations from Shizen Energy and NiX JAPAN, both of which are beneficial owners of renewable energy companies operating in Indonesia. The companies shared their aspirations and the challenges they overcame during the process of establishing and running renewable energy projects in Indonesia.

A roundtable discussion was held featuring representatives from PT SMI, JICA, Shizen Energy, Alamport, and NiX JAPAN. The panelists exchanged practical insights on engaging with Indonesian enterprise, discussed pathways to enhance private sector participation, mitigate project risks, and align investment efforts with national and global climate goals.

With various stakeholders in attendance—including financial institutions, project developers, and representatives from the Indonesian Embassy—the seminar underscored the need for cross-border collaboration to meet Indonesia’s renewable energy targets and reinforced the shared vision for a low-carbon, sustainable future which shall be seen as a business opportunity for investors.

The seminar served as a valuable opportunity to reaffirm the critical role that renewable energy and financing play in advancing Indonesia’s decarbonization agenda.
