Shizen Energy Group announces the launching of the “Kitakyushu Hibikinada Wind & Solar Power Plant” as the Second Wind Power Plant Development Project – Juxtaposition of a Large (Approximately 5-MW) Wind Turbine and a Solar Power Plant –
Shizen Energy Inc. (headquartered in Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefecture; Representative Directors: Ken Isono, Kenji Kawado, and Masaya Hasegawa; hereinafter “Shizen Energy”) commenced construction of the Kitakyushu Hibikinada Wind & Solar Power Plant (hereinafter “the Plant”) in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture. The Plant is located in the Hibikinada District, which is the port area of Kitakyushu, and will contain both wind power generation facilities and solar power generation facilities.
The Plant is one of the projects of the “Accumulation Promotion business of Wind Power-Related Industry in the Hibikinada District of Wakamatsu Ward, Kitakyushu”*1. Shizen Energy submitted a proposal in response to an open recruitment by the Kitakyushu City Government, and the proposal was selected. The project will construct both a wind power plant with a rated output of approx 5 MW and a solar (photovoltaic) power plant with one of approx 0.6 MW (DC capacity: about 0.9 MW). Shizen Energy is planning two agendas using the Plant: 1) install a large 5-MW turbine designed for ocean on land, and 2) install of wind and solar power generation facilities on the same lot, for study of effective use of land and systems. The Plant’s wind power generation facilities will be the largest in Japan in terms of business-use wind power generation facilities constructed on land (as of June 2019).
The yearly generated output will be equivalent to the amount of power used in one year by 3,120 ordinary residences*2. Shizen Energy is going to sell the generated power to Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. under the Feed-In Tariff (FIT) scheme for renewable energy transactions at fixed prices. And also considering supplying and selling the power generated at the Plant to “Shizen Denryoku no Denki” service in the future.
