2018.10.23[Notification]

juwi Shizen Energy Inc. (hereinafter “juwi Shizen Energy”) and Trina Solar Japan Energy Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Trina Solar”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Trina Solar Limited have received an order from Banpu Power Public Company Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Banpu Public Company Limited, for EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) of an approximately 28.8 megawatt mega solar plant named Osato Solar Park in Miyagi Prefecture’s Kurokawa District. The Construction work is currently in progress and is expected to finish in summer 2019.

This power plant will be constructed on a site of approximately 336,000m2 located in Miyagi Prefecture’s Kurokawa District. Annual output is expected to be approximately 30,947 megawatt hours (approximately 30,950,000 kilowatt hours), equivalent to the annual electrical power use of approximately 10,400 ordinary homes. The electricity generated will be sold to Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. using the Feed-in Tariff scheme for renewable energy.

The plant represents the second project together with Trina Solar. For this project, Trina Solar will be managing development and construction, while juwi Shizen Energy will be conducting the construction. Both players will be involved in the planning and procurement of the power plant development project. As for funding, project financing is led by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, a Japanese megabank, as the arranger in the syndication of the non-recourse type loan.

juwi Shizen Energy was established in 2013 as a joint venture between Shizen Energy Inc. (Headquarters: Arato, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Representative Directors: Ken Isono, Kenji Kawado, and Masaya Hasegawa; hereinafter referred to as “Shizen Energy”), activities of which include the development of and securing of funding for renewable energy power plants, and juwi AG, a company headquartered in Germany involved in development and EPC of renewable energy around the world. In addition to being involved in Shizen Energy’s development projects, juwi Shizen Energy also takes orders for EPC-only construction projects, with the company’s completed projects providing a total output of 170 megawatts in 55 locations around Japan. These include five large-scale photovoltaic power plants with output in the tens of megawatts. With an additional 200 megawatts of peak output under construction this year, juwi Shizen Energy is consolidating its position as a leader in international EPC for renewable energy power plants. Furthermore, with many future orders for construction projects expected in the Tohoku area of Japan, juwi Shizen Energy opened an office in Sendai in March 2018, aiming to build networks, enhance partnerships, and recruit new talent.

juwi Shizen Energy will continue to leverage the knowledge and experience accumulated through its global operations and aim to contribute to the increased use of renewable energy and the construction of a sustainable society both in Japan and overseas by providing EPC solutions to meet the needs of the local areas where new power plants are constructed.
